Tech fix: fireworks error “Could not launch Fireworks. An internal error occurred.”

FINALLY!  After all the forum posts that I had seen in for the past 3 hours, nothing worked for me.  Fireworks CS4 as part of the Master Suite never launched.  I was administrating fonts, and all kinds of weird little tricks that I read which mentioned it works.  Here is what happened:

1.  Quickly reinstall to ensure it wasn’t a problem

2.  You possibly had an older version there before, to which, a registry entry of “Number of Sites” needs to be changed through regedit.  The article is available here:  http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb408517&sliceId=1

3  Have a lot of custom fonts?  This could be a problem.  Some of the fonts can actually kill CS4 Fireworks on startup.

4.  Rename your QuickTime folder for start-up (this is what worked for me)
- C:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime -> C:\Program Files (x86)\_QuickTime
- Restart App

Still doesn’t work?  Check the CRASH logs and scroll to the bottom of the log.  Here’s what mine looked like:

I sincerely hope that this helped someone out.  I thrashed my head against the wall for a few hours trying to understand what the problem was.
