I loved this book. It was hilarious and heartwarming. Most of all, there is some merrit to the words within it. The movie, though, is a typical chick flick — but there was good hilarity in it as well. It was worth it just for the entertainment value and the cast was just star-studded. The movie was sold out the first time I tried to see it, tried again on Sunday late evening and was still a full house! For a neurally rated movie, I’m a little surprised.
The premise of this movie was baesd on a book that was spun off of “Sex in the City”. Much like the show itself, it’s based on selling female drama. The craziness that women go through after a date. All the thoughts and feelings of what each word was said or how it said. Hanging on to every word and obsessing over what to wear and how to act. What would you expect? :-) Well, I’ve lived through some of this movie, and have a friend that has come through as the passive “nice guy I like you and will tell that he’s not interested”. I think everyone has a friend that has the gift of observation, or if you’ve worked long enough in a bar, I have a feeling that there is definitely a top down view to these types of relationship problems.
This movie tried to interlink everyone’s lives together in some way, to which, I found it done a little messily. Though, there was no doubt about who would end up with whom at the end.
This film does a great job of trying to put perspective into relationships, having “signs”, “rules” and “exceptions”. If only real life were that easy. I can’t remember anyone ever saying the words “I’m sorry” in this movie though in more times than none, it seemed to have warranted an apology of sorts. The best lines were from Drew Barrymore — her diatribe about being rejected by 7 different technologies were just PERFECT and hit it dead centre of the target.
Was it worth it at the end? Definitely for the entertainment value, but in terms of movie write, expense and sets, it was mediocre.
