I just finished watching the premiere of this film and with an imdb.com rating of 2.6/10 in mind.  I have to admit to myself “How bad is this film?”.  Now I love indie films and I believe that most indie films have better plots than most Hollywood films these days.  I am not saying that Hollywood doesn’t produce good films,  instead I find that Hollywood don’t really take much of a risk when it comes to an idea for making a great films.  These guys that managed to put this movie together have gone that extra mile of doing it and just for the arts of film making has done just that.  In which I have to say, done a good job with what they had.  After watching the film I could see with a little more budget it would been wonderful film.  After watching the film, I see that the people that have voted and gave this movie the rating it stands now are just not really savoring the flavor of this film.  Here is a tip on watching an indie film that I’ve learned personally.  Watching an indie film takes a little effort from the viewers and it is called IMAGINATION.  Imagine if you are watching any other film instead of thinking it is a low budget indie film.  Treat it the same way you would any other film you see and you will understand why I gave this film the rating I believe it deserves.

Now moving along, the plot of the film is pretty much a tribute to all the classic westerns with an interesting twist.  The film is about 4 main characters that are stuck in the middle of the “Badlands” each with there own dark past that leads to their own selfish goals.  The Nomad, is a guardian of a Utopian City who kills anyone that crosses the land heading west, but has begin to lose his noble ways.  The Entrepreneur, who is trying to seek vengeance for his father’s death and also trying to prove to himself to be the successor with the family’s business in building railways than his father.  The Criminal, a cold heart assassin for hire and is only out for himself.  And lastly, The Sherpa, whose trying to adjust himself from a mistake from his past by assisting his best friend The Entrepreneur.  Bringing a memorable showdown leaving you questioning who deserves to be left standing.

The film has a great story that definitely will make you think and discuss amongst friends.  I have to say that it does drag and is very dangerously close to borderline boredom, but does starts to pick up near the end.  The cinematagraphy is done minusing the well. I have to say I’ve seen better comparing it with other indie films that I’ve seen, but because of the storyline it’s easily excusable.  There are definite some small flaws with the film where the film is supposedly taking place in an apocalyptic future of our world, but it’s missing a whole lot of modern day elements to bring that feel to the table.  If I had not known the synopsis of the film was with a dose of sci-fi, I would have fallen in accepting the fact that it’s actually is taking place some time in the old west.  Overall, I have to say this film is really interesting and well written.  I did enjoy this film and stick with the rating I gave.  I could see the filmmakers have lots to improve on and seeing that this is the 1st of 6 according to the directors.  I hope they do manage to adjust the tweaks and tunes to give the audience a good 5 reasons why to come back.
